Three Bags Full, I’m honoured to say, was my first, real LYS. This was the place where I cut my needles and bought the first skeins of Louet Gems sock weight that started me on the journey of becoming a full fledged yarnie.
Three Bags Full is located at 4458 Main St., right in the middle of 28th and 29th Avenues and is one of a host of lovely little shops in that neighborhood. They carry a wonderful array of luxury wools and alternate fibres including such gems as Shilasdair Luxury DK, naturally dyed angora, cashmere and lambswool from the UK and the much talked about Kauni 8/2, 100%wool and 100% super fun long colour changes in gorgeous colours, mixed in with their consistent stock of Noro, Louet, Blue Sky Alpaca, Sweet Georgia, Koigu and Malabrigo that keeps their customers coming back. Oh yes, and how can I forget the Cascade wall…
Along with all the pretties mentioned above they stock a spinning cabinet that’s usually stuffed to the brim with locally dyed and imported fibres and handmade drop spindles, some really awesome handmade buttons, handmade shawl pins and score of other goodies. They keep a decent library of new knitting books and patterns as well as a broad supply of Clover and Aero needles and notions. Three Bags Full also boasts being a “Crochet Friendly” store so it’s the place to go if you’re more into crochet and are feeling a little forgotten amongst all the knitting.
If you’re stopping by Three Bags Full parking can sometimes be tricky as it’s all street parking, but most cars come and go quite frequently so after a turn around you’re likely to find a spot. They’re also located near Nester’s Market, and my favourite place to grab a Chai, East is East cafe. Please make time to stop by Three Bags Full on Saturday, you’re sure to find something you’ll love!
