Wednesday’s’ meeting was a blocking overview. We discussed tools such as mats and blocking wires, as well as the benefits of being gentle, but firm with your blocking. It is a great additional skill for knitters and crocheters both. Blocking helps to give your garment or project of any type a more defined shape. When you use natural products such as wool or cotton for knitting, it is especially effective. Lace comes to life after blocking, all those parts that didn’t look quite right are beautifully spread out and the pattern is displayed to its best advantage.
Blocking isn’t as simple as just dunking your knitting in a bowl of water and going to work, but it isn’t a hard process either. Many guild members present were more than familiar with blocking, so if you have questions or ideas leave a note here or bring it up next meeting for discussion.
Next general meeting is May 25. It is both an Elections meeting and a program meeting. Our upcoming topic will be Lace so bring your projects and your questions! If you are intrested in volunteering for an executive postition for the upcoming year job discriptions are available easily, simply contact our current Secretary Jodi through the guild e-mail. Happy crafting on this lovely Sunday!
